INTRODUCTION
Department of Quantitative Analysis is one of the six departments of Faculty of Economics and Rural Development, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). Department of Quantitative Analysis (DQA) dates to the founding of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics in 1961. Since its foundation, the Department has been renamed several times with hardships and achievements, all the while striving to advance excellence in teaching and research. It has also shared its human and material resources for capacity building towards the establishment of other departments in the Faculty and the University.

RESEARCH
v Research focus
- The Department focuses on the application of quantitative methods to analyze socio-economic phenomena including policy and qualitative phenomena (behavioral research). Some specific research topics are (i) The value chain and supply chain of agricultural products, (ii) Household economics and related topics, (iii) Rural economy, (iv) Market for agricultural products, (v) Impacts of international economic integration on agricultural and household production, (vi) Risk research in agriculture and (vii) Impact assessment of programs and projects.

In collaboration with The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), National Institute of Medicinal Materials (NIMM), and Plant Protection Research Institute (PPRI). - Project LPS/2016/143 “Safe Pork: Market based approaches to improving the safety of pork in Vietnam”. In collaboration with International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), University of Sydney, Hanoi University of Public Health (HUPH), and National Institute of Animal Sciences (NIAS). - Project LPS/2015/037 “Intensification of beef cattle production in upland cropping systems in Northwest Vietnam”. In collaboration with International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), National Institute of Animal Sciences (NIAS), Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Bien province, Center for Agrarian Systems Research and Development (CASRAD), Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), and Tay Bac University (UTB). DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
- The Department has developed cooperation with many foreign universities, research institutes, and international organizations in both human resource training and scientific research for interdisciplinary and specialized research topics. For example: University of Sydney, University of Queensland, University of Tasmania, University of Adelaide, University of Western Australia, University of Kyushu, University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB). International research agencies include International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), CUD of Belgium.
- National research institutes and local universities include: Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), Vietnam Women Union (VWU), and Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute (FAVRI), Soils and Fertilizer Research Institute (SFRI), National Institute of Medicinal Materials (NIMM), Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (NOMAFSI), Center for Agrarian Systems Research and Development (CASRAD), Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, Can Tho University, and Tay Bac University. Besides, the Department has close linked with government agencies such as MARD, MOH, and DARDs (e.g. DARD of Hung Yen, Nghe An, Son La, Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh province), and other NGOs.
